Anyone else surprisingly excited for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis?

I wasn’t really paying much attention to Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis at first because I assumed it would just be another remake trying to cash in on nostalgia. But after watching the recent gameplay footage, I’m actually pretty interested.

What caught my attention is that it seems to lean much more into exploration, puzzles, weird ancient locations and that sense of adventure that made the older Tomb Raider games memorable. The reboot trilogy was fun, but sometimes it felt like Lara spent more time in shootouts and scripted action sequences than actually raiding tombs.

The Atlantis setting also seems like a good choice because it’s one of the more iconic parts of the original game, and seeing it recreated with modern graphics is pretty cool. I was also surprised by how much platforming and environmental puzzle solving they showed instead of just combat.

That said, I’m still a little cautious. A lot of modern remakes look great in trailers but end up feeling too streamlined or afraid to let players get stuck and figure things out on their own. Part of what made the older games memorable was that they didn’t constantly tell you where to go next.

I’m curious what longtime Tomb Raider fans think. Does this look like a good balance between the classic games and the modern reboot style, or do you think they’re playing it too safe? And for people who started with the Survivor trilogy, does this version of Lara and the gameplay appeal to you at all?

Interested to hear some opinions because so far the reaction seems pretty mixed.
